Here come the fighting Súileabháins once again....
We have a mixed shower of boots and shoes at the moment. My sister has been feeling kind of lousy for some time now, and we've suspected that her thyroid is acting up, or rather acting under. She's had the soup of symptoms and has been followed by her primary care, and was even told that she was fine--just grieving my mother for too long according to a recommended endocrinologist. It hadn't even been a year at that point, c'mon.
Fast forward to my current situation, and Dr. N told her to get in to see her ASAP. Turns out that there are THREE nodules on her thyroid. THREE--SHE WINS! However, they are under 1 cm and showing no signs of calcification like one of mine did. Whew! Still, the little buggers are wreaking havoc, along with most of her other hormones and vitamins that are refusing to play nice. You know things are getting interesting when the endocrinologist says, "Oh, this is irritating. " because all the numbers are so skewed.
She has to go on vitamin supplements, increase her thyroid meds and go back in three months to see if the nodules have grown. If they get to .9cm, she'll have to have them biopsied. Right now they are .7cm and smaller.
As for the Revolucion, Part 1 was Dad, Part 2 was Mom, Part 3 is me, and now Sis is Part 4. Can we say enough already???
This brings a song sung by Mary Black to mind, but I think it was originally written by John Gorka...
"I used to think joy was the break between sorrows, like peace was the break between wars..."
We used to sing the Siamese cat song from "Lady and the Tramp" to each other == "We are Siamese if you please (ba dum dum dum)....we are Siamese if you don't please (ba dum dum dum)" She gave a figurine of the two cats, and I gave her pajama bottoms with them. Apparently our thyroids really took this to heart.....
